Primary Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test and improve industrial communication electronics and hardware
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and improve products with processor, Flash/SDRAM memory, Ethernet devices and programmable logic devices (CPLD/FPGA)
- Perform validation and verification tests on product designs
- Create hardware design verification test plans and test reports
- Create product design concepts and architecture
- Create schematics, Netlist and BOM
- Define board layout guidelines to ensure good signal integrity and compliance with EMC and UL safety requirements
- Review PCB layout and recommend changes and improvements
- Study international IEC or EN standards to understand and implement requirements in product designs for compliance
- Debug and troubleshoot designs and products; implement solutions to improve products
- Document designs for manufacturing and support
- Interface with customers on product requirements, development and product support
- Collaborate with other Engineers and production team to develop test fixtures and production testing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience designing and developing products with processor, memory chips, CPLD/FPGA, transceivers
- Proficient at creating and reviewing schematics and designs using OrCAD Capture, OrCAD PCB layout, or equivalent tools
- Experience in creating layout guidelines and reviewing PCB layout and providing guidance
- Coding/simulation experience in Verilog or VHDL
- Experience in creating design validation test plans and test reports
- High speed bus design, 10/100Base or Gigabit Ethernet/USB interface design experience is desired
- Good understanding and knowledge of high-speed board layout
- Strong working knowledge of oscilloscope multimeter power supplies to debug and troubleshoot designs
- Ability to effectively communicate product architectures and design proposals
- Experience in designing with ARM core-based processor is a plus
- Strong computer literacy, including CAD experience
- Must be able to provide assistance in soldering electronic components
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
